As expected, Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton wins AP Offensive Rookie of the Year. Newton set several records his rookie year including; the NFL record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback in 2011 (14) and was the first player in league history to both pass for 4,000 yards and rush for 500.
Cam accepted the award during the inaugural broadcast of the NFL Honors award show. When accepting his award, Cam acknowledged the overwhelming support he’s received in his rookie year
“It’s unbelievable to go through a season and have so much success with so much support. It was great.”
He also thanked his teammates, coaches, fans and owner Jerry Richardson for giving him a chance.
Other winners include 49’ers coach Jim Harbaugh as Coach of the Year and Packers QB Aaron Rodgers won MVP.
