The NFL has fined the Baltimore Ravens $20,000 for failing to report safety Ed Reed’s torn labrum. Per the rules, teams are required to report all injures throughout the week leading up to each game.
In a statement released by the league, regarding the fine. the following reasoning was given in support of the fine:
In other words, even if you don’t feel the injury is serous enough for the player to miss a game or, if the player/team doesn’t want that info out there for a competitive advantage, you still have to list it. The $20K is the same fine the Redskins and Bills got for not disclosing Robert Griffin III’ concussion, and Mario Williams‘ wrist injury.
