On December 30th, 2011, Adrian Peterson was having surgery to repair a ruptured ACL and torn MCL in his left knee. On December 30th, 2012, Peterson and the Vikings were facing off against the Green Bay Packers trying to secure a playoff spot and Peterson 208 yards shy of breaking Eric Dickerson’s single season rushing record of 2,105.
The results? Peterson came within nine yards of Dickerson’s record. But Rushing for over 2000 yards a year after surgery is nothing to sneeze at. In my opinion, Peterson is absolutely MVP.
