This is why it’s important to ensure your agent is breaking down all the points to your contract. Especially if you’re an NFL player where contracts aren’t guaranteed. 49ers cornerback, Tarell Brown. According to Yahoo! Sports, Brown’s 2013 salary was set to be $2.925 million but, because he skipped the voluntary off-season team workouts, the $2 million bonus was voided and his salary was reduced to $925,000. Brown also missed out on an extra $75,000 workout bonus. This is the last year of his contract.
Brown said he found out about the reduction on Twitter and fired his agent, Brian Overstreet, after learning he’d lost the $2 million. I would hope so. Did his agent even send him a text, e-mail about this? I know he’s got to be pissed.
