Now that former Ravens’ running back Ray Rice is eligible to sign with any NFL franchise, ESPN is reporting that at least four teams have Rice on the radar.
The Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints were two of the four teams, but neither team is expected to actually sign him. The team that decides to take a gamble on Rice is risking a huge PR hit. Ray and his wife Janay completed a sit down interview with “Today Show” host Matt Lauer that will air on Monday, December 1st. A written essay detailing the events of that February night from Janay’s POV was released a few days ago.
But will this be enough to convince a team to risk it on a 27-year-old running back – the closer to 30, the less impact running backs have on the field – who also hasn’t played since early September.
Several anonymous NFL executives believe a contending team with a strong head coach, and injuries to their backfield would be a likely target.
