It came down to 2 men for the Clippers, Dwane Casey & Vinny Del Negro. 2 former head coaches who both had been fired from their 1st coaching jobs with a surprisingly semi successful track records despite the final outcome.
Per ESPN, Vinny won out because of his presentation. He came with a solid plan as to how he would develop young players Blake Griffin and Eric Gordon, he showed in Chicago that he’s capable of getting a young team to the playoffs and having been a player in the NBA as well as overseas coupled with his work as both a commentator and assistant GM gives his resume a nice round feeling that the Clipper brass felt was the best chance for success with LA’s OTHER team.
Terms of the deal will be announced shortly. I hope to have something to cheer about this year at Staples, no matter WHO the home team is.
