The Golden State Warriors Got Some “Really Big Championship Rings”

The Golden State Warriors got their rings and the win Tuesday. The 2015 NBA season officially began with some really “big rings” and a 40-point-performance from the reining NBA MVP Steph Curry.

The Warriors showed off their rings and even dropped a little Drake and Future into the ceremony as they showed off their championship hardware. The rings were designed by Jason of Beverly Hills

Once the players had received their rings, Curry told the crowd, “This is an unbelievable night for all of us players, for everybody in the organization, the coaching staff, the front office and especially you guys, who supported us every single night. We wouldn’t have done it without you.”

Andrew Bogut had his ring placed on his middle finger – MESSAGE.

After the banner was raised, the Warriors got back to the business of basketball, and it was like they never left. Golden State beat the New Orleans Pelicans 111-95-  new head coach Alvin Gentry got his ring during the ceremony but that’s where the lovefest stopped – with Steph already in midseason form, dropping 24 points in the first quarter.

The exact cost of the bling is top secret but here are the details that can be shared:

  • There are more than 6 carats of diamonds and sapphires, and more than 90 grams of 14-karat gold.
  • The top of the ring, representing the team’s Bay Bridge logo, is made of 67 percent gold (roughly 16 carats), to reflect the number of last season’s regular-season wins.
  • The numbers 1975 and 2015, representing the team’s NBA championship years in the Bay Area.
  • A total of 240 stones set in the ring, reflecting the 240 Warriors victories since the Lacob-Guber ownership group took over.

Lastly there’s a special touch put into the rings to separate the real from the fake, four fluorescent diamonds, visible only under black light.
