The Golden State Warriors are bringing on a former MVP point guard in a part-time role in player development per ESPN.
Steve Nash is reportedly close to joining the Golden State Warriors to offer some guidance to their backcourt. Nash was with the Phoenix Suns when Steve Kerr was a GM with the franchise. Kerr is currently the Warriors head coach, and several former members of the suns staff are working with the Warriors as well.
The two-time NBA Most Valuable Player would reportedly spend a few days per month with the team to work on skills with individual players.
Makes you wonder why the Lakers didn’t think to bring Nash on in a similar capacity. Last season Nash worked out with LA rookie standout Jordan Clarkson. Over the summer he also worked with Jeremy Lin, Dante Exum, Kemba Walker and C.J. McCollum. There were reportedly plans for new Lakers point guard D’Angelo Russell to link up with Nash as well, but given Nash’s new job description, I’d say not likely.
