The NBA All-Star game is Sunday, Feb. 19 and the focus has been on Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant being on the same team. The two former teammates no longer speak to each other since Durant left the Oklahoma City Thunder to play with the Golden State Warriors. With Warriors’ coach Steve Kerr coaching the Western Conference All-Stars, people are wondering what lineups he’ll use.
The Warriors have four players in the All-Star game this year. Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant are starters, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson were chosen as reserves. Kerr said he absolutely will play all four of his guys at some point during the game, but who will be that fifth player? Well, he wasn’t as open about that answer.
“Oh, I’m absolutely going to play them all four together,” said Kerr, who’ll coach the Western Conference All-Stars. “Those four will be together for sure. I can guarantee you that will happen at some point because that’ll be a pretty cool thing.”
“I’ve definitely considered it,” Kerr told ESPN Radio on Thursday when asked about playing Westbrook with the Warriors Big 4.
“The only thing that you have to do as a coach in the All-Star Game is to parcel out the minutes. That’s it. You don’t draw up any plays. At least I don’t; I didn’t two years ago.
“So we’ve got to figure out the minutes and I have thought about it and I’m not going to share it with you here today.”
I guess we’ll have to wait and see, but the All-Star game is supposed to be fun and exciting. Give the people what they want Kerr…
