Steph Curry is Back-To-Back NBA MVP

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry was officially named the 2015-16 NBA Kia Most Valuable Player on Tuesday. The first unanimous MVP winner in the award’s 61-year history.I’m not sure if we should start first by discussing his incredible season – one where he also legit could’ve been the Most Improved Player – or his come back game on Monday night against the Portland Trailblazers.

Steph returned from knee injury to the second round of the playoffs. Coming off the bench following Shaun Livingston’s second quarter ejection, Chef lit the Blazers up for 40. Keep in mind, he didn’t get hot until the second half, he didn’t score a three pointer until four minutes left in the fourth quarter.

He also let Blazers fans know, it wasn’t “Lillard Time”

He followed that up with 17 points in overtime, setting yet another NBA record.

“I’m Here. I’m Back”

This really was the season of Steph. At various points you could kind of say maybe it should go to Russell Westbrook. Perhaps think of a creative argument for Spurs’ Kawhi Leonard, or even Steph’s teammate Draymond Green. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time an obvious unanimous choice was beaten out. In 2000, Shaq was robbed of that honor by one lone vote for Allen Iverson. The explanation was logical – AI meant more to Philly than Shaq did to the Lakers because of the one-two punch of Kobe and Shaq.

But this time, the media got it right.
