San Antonio Spurs guard TJ Ford officially announced his retirement today via his Twitter account.
The 28-year old was drafted eight in the 2003 draft by the Milwaukee Bucks. Midway during his rookie year, Ford suffered a spinal cord contusion which required surgery and forced him to miss the remainder of his first year and all of the 04-05 season. During his NBA career, Ford had stints with the Toronto Raptors and the Indiana Pacers. He signed with the Spurs last December.
On March 7th Ford suffered a “stinger” that ultimately led to the decision to retire. Ford’s career averages were; 11.2 points, 5.8 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.16 steals 27.7 minutes per game.
