The highly anticipated game between the Golden State Warriors and Oklahoma City Thunder went down Wednesday night. Though it was a blowout with the Warriors winning 121-100, there were several incidents that garnered attention.
First, as the second quarter was coming to an end, Zaza Pachulia knocked down Russell Westbrook with a hard foul. Pachulia then stood over Westbrook for a while, watching as Russell writhed in pain.
“He hit me kind of hard,” Westbrook told reporters after the game. “But it’s all right. I’m gonna get his ass back. Straight up.”
“No, I didn’t see that until just now, but I don’t play that game,” Westbrook said explaining that he wasn’t aware of Pachulia’s response to the foul until seeing a replay later.
I’m gonna get his ass back,” Westbrook said. “Whenever that is, I don’t know what it’s going to be, but I don’t play that game.”
Pachulia didn’t feel like he did anything wrong and isn’t concerned with Westbrook’s comments about retaliation.
“I thought it was a good steal, honestly, because I had the ball in my hands,” Pachulia told reporters afterward. “Officials called a foul; there’s nothing you can do. A foul is a foul. If it was a hard foul, it was a hard foul. There is nothing you can do. So you just move on. If he got hurt, that’s fine, too. It’s part of the game.”
“We’re thinking about this team and staying healthy moving forward and, better, getting into the playoffs and playing for the championship,” Pachulia said. “That’s what I’m thinking about. I’m not thinking about these kind of comments. That team is not there, so they might be thinking about other stuff, like getting back. So, you know, OK, you can get me back.
But this is my 14th year. We all know what my game is, to play hard. Not dirty, but play hard. If it was a hard foul, it was a foul. It wasn’t dirty at all, so I’m not worried about this.”
At the end of the game, Westbrook was filmed telling one of his teammates, “Don’t say wassup to that b-tch a– n-gga.” Some people think he was talking about Kevin Durant, his former teammate who left him to join the Warriors. When asked after the game if he and Durant are on speaking terms, Westbrook simply replied, “Nah.”
So was he talking about Durant or Pachulia?
