Russell Westbrook Hits Buzzer Beating Game-Winner & Makes History With Triple-Doubles

There’s still a lot of people pulling for James Harden as the 2017 NBA MVP, but Sunday night Russell Westbrook solidified himself as the winner for many others.  Russy not only hit the game winner, he made history and did so much more.

The night was spectacular for so many reasons.  Westbrook hit a 36-foot buzzer-beater that gave the Oklahoma City Thunder a 106-105 win over the Denver Nuggets, officially knocking the Nuggets out of the playoff race.

The man of the night finished with an incredible triple-double of 50 points, 16 rebounds, and 10 assists.  It was Westbrook’s third 50-point triple-double of the season.  He also officially averages a triple-double for the season sitting at 31.9 ppg, 10.7 rpg, and 10.4 apg.  Westbrook is only the second player to average a triple-double following Oscar Robertson.  In addition to joining Robertson in a small club, Westbrook’s 42nd triple-double on Sunday night also broke Robertson’s record of most triple-doubles in a single season.  Robertson’s record of 41 triple-doubles was set back in 1961-62.

Here’s Westbrook’s big shot.
