I want to support Royce White. The 16th pick in the draft suffers from anxiety issues but the Rockets opted to draft him in spite of this. From the outside looking in, it appears as if the Rockets organization have been extremely supportive of White and gone far beyond what most employers would to ensure that their employees disorder won’t stop him from being apart of the franchise.
The most recent turn of events involved the Rockets assigning White to their D-League team affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Well, Royce doesn’t feel as if the D League experience is conducive to his mental well being and is refusing to report to the Vipers and has a released a statement as to why.
It appears as if the right thing for White to do in order to properly maintain his mental health is to move on from professional basketball. Not because of his condition but because at this point he seems to be expecting more privilege than is reasonable within in the scope of his profession.
And to add to that, mentioning “recent events” as part of your statement… I don’t know if that’s helping your cause Sir.
