Donald Sterling’s ownership of the LA Clippers could be setting up for a flashpoint next season if the league doesn’t act quickly to dismiss him. At least that’s what NBA Player’s Union VP Roger Mason Jr. shared with Jim Rome. Mason said if Sterling is still an owner next season the player are willing to boycott games next NBA season, including LeBron James.
James has been very vocal since an audio recording with Sterling making racist statements towards black people was released two weeks ago.
I believe the NBA wants this black eye cleared up as quickly as possible, but Donald Sterling and his wife Shelly are litigious in nature. This isn’t about money, they would stand to gain between $500 million and $1 billion on the sale of the team. This is strictly about ego. Fortunately, the NBA recognized this and seems to be prepared to fight it out to get Sterling out of their system.
Judging by his interview with Anderson Cooper, he seems to be further digging his own grave.
