Ray Allen has agreed to sign with the Miami Heat. Though the Heat could only offer Allen half of what the Celtics offered – a one year contract for $3 million which isn’t a big deal considering Allen has made over $170 million in his NBA career – Allen reportedly was thinking about the other perks. Golfing and ending his career with a title. But, allegedly the biggest motivator for the move was Allen’s strained relationship with Celtics point guard, Rajon Rondo.
Fans are of course angry, feeling Allen is a “trader” forgetting that Allen’s name has been in the middle of Celtics trade rumors for the past two seasons. This was something Heat GM Pat Riley utilized in his pitch to Ray, never having to hear his name in trade rumors if he signed with the Heat.
The Celtics have recently agreed to terms with former Maverick, Jason Terry and are expected to sign Jeff Green to a multi year deal worth $40 million.
