NBA Free Agency Day 1: Who Cashed Out And Who Needs Prayer

We aren’t even at the end of day one in NBA free agency, and there’s already been over $2 Billion in contracts agreed on. If you missed this morning’s update, you can check that HERE Are you ready to get caught up with who went where?

Take a deep breath:

The Cleveland Cavaliers clearly believe they have the right formula. Owner Dan Gilbert has opened up the money vault for $230 Million. By the way, they haven’t signed LeBron back yet, Expect his deal to be in the $20 million range for one season. This is what everyone else has agreed to:

  •  Tristan Thompson will be back for $80 million over 5 years.
  • Kevin Love liked what he saw from the bench during the playoffs, and decided to reup. Cavs give Love a five-year-$110 million deal.
  • Iman Shumpert also reupped with the Cavs. Shump agreed to $4 years for $40 million.

I Guess Dan Gilbert is over feeling like small markets don’t have an advantage. JR and Delly look to be the odd men out.

The Phoenix Suns made moves. The Suns locked down center Tyson Chandler with a four-year- $52-million contract. Next they gave an extension to guard Brandon Knight, worth five-years-$70 million.

DeMarre Carroll surprised everyone and left the Atlanta Hawks for the north. Carroll will be joining the Toronto Raptors for 4-years-$60 million.

So far the Lakers are coming up short. Depending on whose version of events you believe, “sources” say the meeting between the Lakers and free agent power forward LaMarcus Aldridge didn’t go well. Kobe responded to those reports with a meme.

Ok Kobe…

Meanwhile down the hall, the Clippers have brought “The Truth” back to L.A. Paul Pierce has agreed to a three-year-$10-million contract. Not only does this bring the Inglewood native back to his roots, it reunites him with the coach he won a title with in Boston.

Jimmy Butler accepted Chicago’s a five-year-$95 million contract, with a player option after year four. Always bet on yourself.

The San Antonio Spurs reached terms with Danny Green for a four-year-$40-million contract. They also traded away center Tiago Splitter to the Atlanta Hawks. Looks like they’re rolling out the red carpet for LaMarcus.

  • Former Toronto Raptors big man Amir Johnson will sign with the Boston Celtics for $24 million over two years.
  • Kyle Singler agrees to 5-year $25 million offer sheet with the Oklahoma City Thunder
