Kobe & Vanessa Bryant Start Foundation For Homeless Youth, Kobe Not Speaking On Mike Brown

Kobe and Vanessa Bryant held a press conference My Friend’s Place in Hollywood to announce the launch of The Kobe and Vanessa Bryant Family Foundation (KVBFF), the goal of the foundation is to eradicate youth homelessness in Los Angeles.

“We’re going to attack this. We’re going to attack this, because for our youth to be out there stranded in the street feeling like there’s nobody else that could support them or help them or give them guidance to be able to follow or achieve their dreams is weak,” said Kobe.

My Friend’s Place is a haven for homeless youth based in Hollywood. They see 80 to 120 young people come through their doors daily. They’re part of the 7,000 young adults in Los Angeles County alone who are homeless.

Kobe says he and his wife are still educating themselves on the homeless problem. He says his foundation will increase awareness and raise money to help transform the lives of homeless kids and young adults.

The Bryants’ charity will partner with existing aid organizations like My Friend’s Place in order to raise funds, improve services, and increase awareness about the pervasive problem of homeless youth in Los Angeles.

Kobe was not taking questions on the Lakers new coach, Mike Brown. “right now’s not the time or the place…it’s unfair to the kids.” – Kobe. I understand, this wasn’t about that, but the fact that he hasn’t released a statement at all says volumes about his feelings.
