Kobe Bryant’s Technical Foul Meltdown [Video]

Kobe Bryant received his 15th technical of the season last night (lucky that one from early in the season was rescinded this week). Kobe went ballistic on the sideline, punching the chair (and a bit of Joe Smith’s arm), throwing towels and hurling profanities.

Kobe had 27 in the win over the Spurs to stop the 5 game slide. Good thing the refs decided to overlook Kobe’s temper tantrum on the sideline. You know he just wants to win. The Black Mamba does not comprehend losing!

Technicals start over in the playoffs so both Dwight Howard and Kobe are safe.

**UPDATE**

The NBA had/has plans to launch an investigation into Kobe’s hissy fit speifically relating to his usage of a gay slur. GLAAD also reached out to the Lakers organization.

For his part, Kobe has issued an apology:

“What I said last night should not be taken literally. My actions were out of frustration during the heat of the game, period. The words expressed do NOT reflect my feelings towards the gay and lesbian communities and were NOT meant to offend anyone.”

I really hope that’s the end of it. I don’t for one moment believe Kobe to be homophobic. Lots of obsenities are hurled around the court during the course of an NBA game, sit courtside and you’ll certainly get an earful.

Not making an excuse for what happened, simply pointing out that it was in the heat of a game and far worst is spoken on the hardwood.
