Kevin Durant Had Kendrick Perkins Sign a Confidentiality Agreement

The NBA salary cap is expected to be increased this summer from $70 million to $89 million. That means a lot of big checks for this summer’s free agents. One of the biggest targets will be Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant.

Of course rumors have been flying all year where KD might be headed, but at least one of his friends and former teammates has the scoop, New Orleans Pelicans big man Kendrick Perkins. But there’s a catch to that knowledge:

As a friend, I try not to talk to him too much about free agency. I always try to just want to talk to him about things outside of basketball. We talk about personal life and stuff like that. And I know he’s getting this question every day on the hour and stuff like that, so I try not to bother him.

But he did shoot some teams out there that he made me sign a confidentiality form that I couldn’t tell nobody. He’s got a few teams that he will be looking at.

Perkins indicated that the Thunder’s performance in the playoffs is a huge factor. He was being sarcastic but that’s the reality in the 2016-Social-Media-Sports-star era.

One other thing that will change Durant’s perspective, impending fatherhood. There were rumors that KD and his girlfriend are expecting a child later this year, which has him contemplating things from a truly different perspective when considering his future employment. Obviously we’ll find out in due time if that rumor is true.

But more on that later. In the meantime, we still have to make it through Kobe Bryant’s last 5 games of his NBA career and the playoffs before July and free agency.
