Highlights From The 2014 NBA Draft [Photos]

With the first pick in the 2014 NBA draft, the Cleveland Cavs select Andrew Wiggins and his suit. Wiggins suit was designed by Waraire Boswell and styled by Brandon Williams. It’s the second year in a row that a Canadian has been selected with the first pick of the draft.

Joel Embiid was a victim of delayed satellite so he looked less than thrilled when the cameras showed him as the Sixers pick… but he cleared all that up with a selfie.

I’d be a little sad if I got drafted to the Sixers too. Seems like they just want to collect players with injuries… The Sixers were without their 2103 draft pick Nerlens Noel all last season while he recovered from knee surgery. With the Celtics drafting Marcus Smart means Rajon Rondo is on the move in Boston. Rondo probably isn’t mad at the prospect of leaving a rebuilding project, but where he might end up might leave him upset too. We’ll see.

The Utah Jazz selected Australian Dante Exum… But wait they already have a young point guard in Trey Burke. They say they can play together.

The Lakers drafted Julius Randle with the 7th pick. Kobe already tweeted him congrats and followed him on Twitter. That’s a great sign, right?

Plus Julius already has a chip on his shoulder. He said he would make teams pay for passing on him. But that the Lakers are where he wanted to be all along.

Sacrament Kings #8 pick Nik Stauskas’ handshake with his dad was hilarious.

Didn’t seem like former UCLA point guard, Zach LaVine was exactly jubilant to be chosen by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Shock perhaps. Delayed reaction.

In a touching moment that will continue to add brownie points to new commissioner Adam Silver’s legacy. The NBA selected Isiah Austin. The Baylor standout learned a few days before the draft that he would have to end his competitive basketball career because of a genetic disorder.

Charlotte Hornet’s #9 pick Noah Vonleh gets props for donning the old school Hornets starter jacket. I need this in my life. Not cause I’m a fan, I have always loved the Hornets starter.

With the #10 pick, the Sixers took  Elfrid Payton. He struggled to get that hat on… it didn’t matter cause he was later traded to the Magic.

The 15th pick for the Atlanta Hawks was Adreian Payne.  He rocked a lilac and lavender number, I didn’t think I was here for it until I found out he made the color choice to represent Lacey Holsworth. She was a young fan of Payne’s Michigan college team who lost her battle with cancer.

The Heat got their guy, point guard Shabazz Napier via a trade with the Charlotte Hornets.

Want to compare contract stats for the number one pick in the NBA draft compared to the NFL?

NFL #1 pick, Houston Texans’ Jadeveon Clowney, will earn $22,272,000 over four years (guaranteed plus a $14 million signing bonus.) Cavs  Andrew Wiggins rookie contract will be worth 4 years, $24,010,049.
