The Miami Heat vs. Cleveland Cavaliers game Wednesday had tons of subtext before the opening jump ball. Obviously the Cavs are LeBron’s former team and the fans felt betrayed when he took his talents to South Beach. Plus, the Heat were attempting to win game number 24 of their current win streak.
The game started almost an hour late because of condensation on the floor due to a leak. Once the game finally got underway, the Cavs jumped out to a 20 point lead. In what would’ve been a strange sense of irony, it looked as if the Cavs might be the team to stop the Heat’s streak at 24. But that’s not all, during the fourth quarter, some random guy ran onto the court from the stands wearing a shirt that says “We miss you Lebron. Come back in 2014”
Lebron is such a sweetheart, he patted the guy on the head as if to say, “there there little fella, it’ll be ok.” Then proceed to reignite beastmode with the Heat winning the game, after digging themselves out of a 27-point hole. King James had a triple double, scoring 25 points, 12 boards and 10 assists.
After the game, LeBron had this to add about his strange return to Cleveland:
“This was one of the most bizarre, unique days of my life with everything that happened. It also was one of the best comebacks I’ve ever been a part of. The streak wasn’t on my mind, but us getting blown out was.”
