The Golden State Warriors have a new head coach in Steve Kerr. Their old coach, Mark Jackson, already has a new job with ESPN covering the remainder of the NBA playoffs. But information is still surfacing regarding Jackson’s issues with management during his tenure with Golden State.
Per the SF Bay, Jackson made remarks that could be viewed as anti-gay.
Jackson was asked about the possibility of adding several different big men to the roster. Jason Collins name was mentioned prior to his signing a contract with the Brooklyn Nets. Collins is the first openly gay NBA player. Jackson reportedly responded:
The Warriors are planning a new stadium in the heart of San Francisco. A city that has a large and active homosexual community that enjoys sports and has discretionary income to spend. Can’t imagine that would’ve been good for community relations. Warriors owner Joe Lacob isn’t commenting and says the team has moved on.
