Dwight Howard thinks the Lakers should take a few pointers from the Clippers

So far the Dwight Howard experiment in LA hasn’t been a success. Dwight is still recovering from back surgery last April, the Lakers don’t have an identity and a head coach who hasn’t figured out how to use the pieces he inherited. But Dwight has apparently been glancing down the hall at the Clippers and thinks there are other areas that would help the team get further.

“We have to play like we like each other,” Howard said. “Even if we don’t want to be friends off the court, whatever that may be, when we step in between the lines or we step in the locker room or the gym, we have to respect each other and what we bring to the table.”

“It really starts off the court,” Howard argued. “I think you have to have that relationship and that chemistry off the court for it to really blossom on the court. Those guys on the Clippers team. They really enjoy each other off the court and it shows.”

Those comments come after Dwight made this statement following the Lakers loss to the Clippers on Friday.

“Look at the difference between our team and theirs,” Howard said. “They just play together. They share the ball. Everybody’s excited when something happens. We have to be like that to be a great team.”

I suggest Dwight organize a team outing. Clearly he believes that the interpersonal battles are what’s stopping the Lakers from greatness. Perhaps he should start by offering to take Kobe to dinner. Or maybe the first step is following each other on Twitter. Don’t laugh, the lack of a follow has been the source of many arguments and hurt feelings.
