It’s official. On the fitting date of April 1st (that’s April Fool’s Day if somehow you missed the connection), the Detroit Pistons will retire Dennis Rodman’s jersey at halftime against another one of his former teams, the Chicago Bulls.
“The Worm”, as he was known by in his early playing days, was Selected 27th by the Pistons in the 1986 NBA Draft. He played the first seven seasons of his career in Detroit and was a key member of the Pistons ‘Bad Boys’ teams that led the franchise to back-to-back championships in 1989 and 1990. He still holds team records for most rebounds in a game (34), most offensive rebounds in a game (18), most defensive rebounds in a game (22) and most games with 25-plus rebounds (15).
