Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose has been through a rough couple of years behind injury. Rose has been through two major knee surgeries since his MVP season a few years back.
Rose’s most recent return to the court this season has been limited after suffering two ankle sprains. Bulls’ fans and even local Chicago media are wondering if DRose will ever return to his MVP form. One Chicago newspaper even referred to him as “damaged goods.” In recent interview Rose explained that while he understands the frustrations, he has to be concerned about his future.
Fans are going to be upset by his response – I assume Bulls brass also – but the reality is, he will have to function when he’s done in the NBA. The sport will move on and forget about you. How many athletes held on for too long but now don’t have the money to care for their chronic long-term injuries? Just ask some retired NFL players.
