New York Knicks fans, your new head coach has been announced. Derek Fisher, the former five time NBA Champion – all under Phil Jackson – is expected to be announced as the latest edition to the Knickerbocker family.
The agreement is expected to be for five-years- $25 million. Fish just got done with a playoff run with the Oklahoma City Thunder, much like Jason Kidd stepping off the floor from the Knicks into the Brooklyn Nets head coaching job at the end of last season. Fish can relate to the players and won’t have a problem with Phil hanging out over his shoulder on occasion.
In case you were curious, the average NBA head coaching salary is right around $3.25 million per Pro Basketball Talk.
The next question, is it enough to make Carmelo Anthony stay? I’d bet money Melo is quietly looking at property in Houston or Chicago right now.
