After just signing Nene to a five-year-$67 million contract extension in December, the Denver Nuggets have agreed to trade him to the Washington Wizards. In a three-team trade that netted the Nuggets big man, JaVale McGee and Ronny Turiaf. The Clippers were the third team and only involved because they were a team guard Nick Young, whose from LA, would forgo his “Bird rights” for. The Clippers sent out Brian Cook and a future second-round pick to the Wizards.
I really like this trade. For the Wizards it brings a veteran into the locker room and signals a change in culture. For the Nuggets it gives them youth and size as they rebuild their identity post-Carmelo. And for the Clippers it presents another scoring option at the guard position which should help to free up Blake. Young is averaging 17 points this season.
I guess this means we’ll have to wait until summer for more episodes of the Nick and JaVale show.
