Are you ready for the real battle for LA to begin? Sh*t just got real Wednesday night as the Clippers figured out the right combination for the NBA to give the go ahead to a trade that will bring All-Star point guard Chris Paul to to the team.
The Clippers are sending the Hornets some of their top assets: guard Eric Gordon, a 2012 first-round draft pick from the Minnesota Timberwolves; forward Al-Farouq Aminu; and center Chris Kaman.
Paul and Griffin will be together for at least two seasons, As part of the trade, Paul agreed to opt into his contract for 2012-13, rather than become a free agent.
The Minnesota pick is unprotected. The Timberwolves are almost guaranteed to be in the lottery again, and the 2012 draft is loaded.
The Clippers will also receive two second-round picks, both in 2015, from the Hornets. Pick and roll baby! Blake and DeAndre were 2nd and 3rd for most dunks last season. Imagine what it’s going to be like for them with an actual point guard. Don’t forget the Clipps still have Chauncey Billups and signed Caron Butler last week.
