Clippers guard Chauncey Billups suffered a torn left Achilles tendon in Monday night’s 107-102 Clippers’ win in Orlando. Billups underwent an MRI today and it’s been determined that surgery is required and he’ll miss the remainder of the season.
In 20 games played this season, Billups averaged 14.9 points, 4.0 assists and 2.5 rebounds this season. This is definitely a snag in the Clippers playoff aspirations. Mo Williams will probably take over the starting two-guard slot but that really is only a temporary fix. JR Smith should be wrapped from his stint in China soon…
At 35-years old you have to hope that this isn’t the end for Chauncey. Recovery time is usually 6 to 8 months.
