A 6,000 word interview with LeBron James and Bleacher Report has the internets buzzing. In it, James mentioned a dream scenario where someday, he would take a pay cut play with his NBA brothers which includes; Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade and Chris Paul.
Howard Beck of Bleacher Report wrote the piece that centered on the friendship of the four NBA superstars which is referred to as “the brotherhood.”
“That was the first conversation: How are we going to play together?” Anthony said. “He was like, ‘Man, I want to play with you. How are we going to play together?’”
“I really hope that, before our career is over, we can all play together,” James said. “At least one, maybe one or two seasons—me, Melo, D-Wade, CP—we can get a year in. I would actually take a pay cut to do that.”
“It would be pretty cool,” James said. “I’ve definitely had thoughts about it.”
Before bounding away, he smiles and closes with a coy chirp: “We’ll see.”
Anthony was asked if he could see it happening in New York and if he would be willing to take the pay cut to make it a reality.
Anthony smiled when reporters asked him about LeBron’s comments and occasionally chuckled when he spoke.
“I don’t know,” Anthony said after Wednesday’s 115-107 win over the Chicago Bulls. “We still got years in this league. We’ll see if that happens.
Everybody dreams sometimes. Everybody has fantasies. You like that? You think it could happen?”
Anthony said that the salary cap wouldn’t be an issue because LeBron “said he’ll take a pay cut.”
“I’ll take a pay cut if it happens,” Anthony said. “I think we all would have to take a pay cut.”
Dwyane Wade was asked about it Wednesday night following the Heat’s loss to the Spurs, he wisely avoided the topic and said he’s focused on his current team.
