I know it’s been popular during this NBA lockout to focus on what the players didn’t do and the money they’re paid for working in the NBA. But each and every week a new game is popping up somewhere in the country at a free or relatively low cost to see NBA players hit the hardwood.
Add one more to the list. NBA superstars Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, Chris Paul and Dwyane Wade are set to participate in a four-city tour entitled “The Homecoming Tour.” The tour will visit the four cities that are associated with the stars.
Game number one will be in James’ hometown of Akron, Ohio on Dec. 1st, followed by a Dec. 4th game in New Orleans, a Dec. 7th game in Chicago and culminating with a Dec. 10th in East Rutherford, N.J.
And it’s for charity. From journeyman and role players to superstars, players have in many cases paid for their own travel to these games and not received any compensation. Of course Nike or Jordan will sponsor the uniforms. With Google plus streaming the game, are we getting a possible peak at how a new league might go about being pulled together?
