Bulls rule Derrick Rose out for remainder of the season

Derrick Rose had surgery Monday to repair the torn meniscus in his right knee. He suffered the injury Friday night during the Bulls match up against the Trailblazers. This is the second serious knee injury Rose has suffered over the past two years.  The first when he tore the ACL in his left knee during the 2012 playoffs.

The benefit to repairing the meniscus as opposed to simply removing it as Ron Artest did a few years back, is that it will extend your career. While Artest returned quickly for the Lakers during the playoffs, removing it takes all the cushion in the knee away and arthritis can develop.

The Bulls have said Rose will miss the entire 2013-2014 season, which is smart on their part. Last season there were several false starts and much speculation as to his return from the torn ACL. DRose just needs to focus on getting back healthy so he can rejoin his team.

The rehab aspect of it is pretty simple, the mental part will be where the true test is.

Side note, you think this nurse is going to get in trouble for her photo with a post surgery DRose ending up on the internet?
