Bulls Guard Derrick Rose To Have 3rd Knee Surgery

Sending lots of love, light and good wishes to Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose. Tuesday the team announced that the former MVP has a torn meniscus in his right knee and will undergo surgery.

Rose reportedly had knee pain earlier in the day. An exam and MRI confirmed the worst, a tear in the right knee.

There are two routes to go with this injury. It can be cut out for a quick return – but shortened career – or it can be fixed with a longer rehab time, but also extends a player’s career. Rose has been battling injuries for the last three seasons.

Rose suffered this same injury in 2013 during a game against the Portland Trail Blazers. The year before that, Rose tore his ACL in his left knee during Game 1 of the 2012 playoffs against Philadelphia.

This season, it looked as if DRose was finally ready for the return. It started last summer during the World Games where he was able to get some time back on the court. He had a minor setback in November with a hamstring injury. But since the top of the year, signs of the old Rose seemed to be showing up.

In the last 14 games prior to the All-Star break, Rose was averaging 22.6 points.

There’s no timetable scheduled for Rose to return to the court.
