Baron Davis was waived by the Cavaliers on Wednesday using the league’s amnesty clause. BD had $28 million left on his contract that’s now been cleared for off the Cavs salary cap.
Davis will collect every dime of his contract and will be offered up to teams under the cap on waivers. But, there’s a catch with Davis.
Davis was diagnosed Wednesday with a herniated L2-3 disc in his lower back. The injury will keep him off the court for the next 8-10 weeks. Two teams were said to be interested in his services, the Lakers and the Knicks.
Amar’e Stoudemire doesn’t sound interested in having Davis joined the Knicks.
8 to 10 weeks puts us just around the All-Star break. Maybe the Lakers or another team will see a need for him then.
