Andrew Bynum suffers another setback for Sixers debut

Andrew Bynum has suffered another setback that pushes his December debut with the Sixers back. Initially it was his right knee that was causing all of the problems but now there’s swelling in his left knee oh and a bone bruise as well.

“I had a little bit of a setback,” Bynum said. “Just working through some issues with the right knee, I kind of have a mirror thing going on with the left knee. I don’t know what’s going on. The doctors are saying it’s a weakened cartilage state, so we kind of wait, I guess. We can’t do anything. I just have to wait for the cartilage to get strong.”

The Sixers are currently 5-4 after stopping a 3 game slide on Friday night with a win over the Utah Jazz. Sixers GM Tony DiLeo says the team is still looking long term with Bynum and the main focus is for him to be completely healthy.

“My main concern is Andrew’s health, my main concern is big picture. We want to have a long relationship with him.”

While I’m sure that’s true, you can’t tell me after the playoff push the Sixers had last season and the offseason acquisitions made that the team wasn’t thinking about getting a significant boost this season. But it’s still to early in the season to fret. Above 500 isn’t a bad place to be. The Cavs head into Philly for Sunday’s game, let’s see what they do with Cavs guard Kyrie Irving.
