Former Laker Andrew Bynum was introduced as the newest member of the Cleveland Cavaliers this week. Following the official introduction, Bynum had an interview with Allie Clifton of Fox Sports.
One of the topics Clifton touched on was Cleveland’s love of their sports and it’s fans. Clifton asked what Andrew knew about the city’s fans. Andrew decided that this was the perfect opportunity to throw shots at his former team’s fanbase.
“I just know that they’re really, really passionate and I haven’t had the opportunity to play for a city that is really just gonna stand up and really support the team, I’m super excited and I can’t wait to see what it’s like.”
Really??? Laker fans are SUPER passionate about their team. Some even say delusional – I of course disagree with that assessment but, whatever. And Drew spent a year in Philadelphia, a city whose fans are notoriously engaged with their teams.
I get it, you want to endear yourself to your new city but coming from a guy who at times seems to not even care about the sport he’s paid millions to play, I’d say Andrew should just stick to earning the love through his on-court play. It’s been awhile since we’ve seen him there.
