The Lakers have played themselves into the position that they can’t afford to rest their starters in their last two games. Besides the rest factor, teams rest their stars to avoid them getting hurt in meaningless end of the season games.
Andrew Bynum Hyperextended his right knee. Yup, THAT knee. The one that he had surgery on last summer, that caused him to miss the start of the season. He didn’t return to the game, and will not travel to Sacramento with the team for the final game of the season. An MRI is planned for Wednesday morning.
The Lakers NEED Bynum in order to return to the finals in June. Steve Blake is out with Chicken Pox, no word in if he’ll return for the first round. Shannon Brown has been playing subpar for most of the season and now a possibly knee injury to Bynum with our so-so bigs left on the bench. This isn’t the way I envisioned stepping into the playoffs.
