76ers Vs Thunder: Anthem Controversy, 2 Bird Salute and Trusting The Process

The second night of the NBA was filled with fireworks in Philly for the 76’ers match up against Oklahoma City Thunder. Check out some of the standout moments of the night.

Russell Westbrook is the lone superstar left in OKC. He doesn’t seem bothered a bit. Naturally his fashion selection was ready for the challenge. Russ rocked a kilt for the Philly opener.

Singer Sevyn Streeter was scheduled to perform the National Anthem prior to tip off, but Sixers brass felt her “We Matter” jersey was inappropriate for the event. She was reportedly asked to change her shirt and when she refused, a Sixers’ dancer sang in her place. Seyvn posted the following video to Twitter

“I’m at the 76ers game to sing the national anthem and the organization is telling me that I can’t because I’m wearing a ‘We Matter’ jersey,”

The Sixers released the following statement:

“The Philadelphia 76ers organization encourages meaningful actions to drive social change. We use our games to bring people together, to build trust and to strengthen our communities. As we move from symbolic gestures to action, we will continue to leverage our platform to positively impact our community.”

Seyvn’s first mistake was letting them see what her plan was. As the saying goes, ask for forgiveness later.

Things were hot on the baseline as one angry Philly fan felt the need to give Russell Westbrook the two bird salute, accompanied with what were obviously angry tones. The fan was removed from the game.

Trust the process?

Philly fans weren’t feeling Desiigner’s halftime performance

The Oklahoma City Thunder won the game 103-97. Russell Westbrook had a near triple-double with a game-high 32 points, along with 12 rebounds, and 9 assists.
