What Are You Watching Wednesday: Warriors Chasing 73 or Kobe’s Last Game?

The end of the NBA season is fast approaching. As it winds down, history is taking place. On Wednesday, April 13, two games will be happening simultaneously;

The Golden State Warriors will be going after win number 73. After giving the San Antonio Spurs their first home loss this season – another bit of history to add to the legend of this team – the Warriors joined the ranks of Michael Jordan’s 95-96 Chicago Bulls, with a chance to surpass them with a historic 73rd win on Wednesday against the Memphis Grizzlies.

On the other end of the spectrum. Although the Los Angeles Lakers have been underwhelming on the court this season, it’s all we have left to say goodbye to the Black Mamba, Kobe Bryant. For his final game, not only are ticket prices at ignorant levels, the Lakers have an absolute royal send off planned for Kobe.

Fans have paid a StubHub average of $971 for a ticket at the Staples Center to see No. 24 take the final shots of his 20-year NBA career for the Lakers, against the Jazz, while StubHub data shows the average price paid for the Grizzlies-Warriors game on Wednesday night is now $436.

Per the LA Times, The team plans to bring in about 30 of Bryant’s former teammates, with commitments including Shaquille O’Neal, Robert Horry, Rick Fox, Ron Harper, DJ Mbenga and Adam Morrison.

Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea will play the national anthem Jimi Hendrix-style and then there will be a tribute video a few minutes long.

So where will your eyes be on Wednesday night? Mine will be watching Kobe. As a sidenote, ESPN has bumped Kobe’s last game to ESPN 2 in favor of the Grizzlies vs. Warriors.
