New film based on the life of baseball great, Jackie Robinson titled “42” [video]

Almost 66 years ago, Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in baseball. Check out the trailer for the new film, “42” chronicling the life and career of the baseball legend.

The powerful story of Jackie Robinson, the legendary baseball player who broke Major League Baseball’s color barrier when he joined the roster of the Brooklyn Dodgers. “42″ will star Academy Award(R) nominee Harrison Ford (“Witness”) as the innovative Dodger’s general manager Branch Rickey, the MLB executive who first signed Robinson to the minors and then helped to bring him up to the show, and Chadwick Boseman (“The Express”) as Robinson, the heroic African American who was the first man to break the color line in the big leagues.

Last year Dodgers star Matt Kemp signed the biggest contract in the franchise (and for a moment, baseball) history. Without Robinson’s talent and courage, that wouldn’t have been possible.

The film is slated to hit theaters April 13th, 2013.
