Derek Jeter launches new website to connect professional athletes and fans

Derek Jeter has played his last game for the New York Yankees and hung up his cleats for good. Jeter has been notoriously private during his career, making it a point to stay under the radar – which is extremely impressive for a New York professional athlete.

Jeter already has his next project planned out and it actually plays off the fact that he’ s managed to avoid getting caught up with media. Jeter is launching a website for fans with content written and edited by professional athletes.

Introducing The Players’ Tribune, a new media platform that will present the unfiltered voices of professional athletes, bringing fans closer to the games they love than ever before. Founded by Derek Jeter, The Players’ Tribune aims to provide unique insight into the daily sports conversation and to publish first-person stories directly from athletes. From video to podcasts to player polls and written pieces, The Tribune will strive to be “The Voice of the Game.”

I guess because they don’t share on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. I feel as though this has been attempted before in some form or fashion but it will be nice to hear more from Derek Jeter.
