So apparently this Lolo Jones backlash isn’t going to stop soon. Following their second and third place in the 100 m women’s hurdle, Lolo Jones’ track and field teammates Dawn Harper (Silver medal) and Kellie Wells (Bronze medal) expressed in an interview with NBC Sports’ Michelle Beadle that they felt their own personal stories of triumph were overlooked by the media to focus on Jones’ story. As benign as that statement sounds, there is absolute beef and these two ladies definitely threw shots at Jones in this interview:
Beadle: You thought you weren’t getting enough respect … Why is that?
I am all for speaking what’s on your heart. But in these two ladies crowning moment, how jealous do they sound of Lolo? You’re bitter because the media didn’t give you enough attention? Do you have a publicist? How open were you to putting yourself out there good, bad and indifferent for THAT type of attention? Is it not better that you went about your business of training and ended up on the podium stand? And in the moment where it SHOULD be about you and you’re accomplishments, you’re still complaining about THAT? The chick that got fourth?
In my moment of glory, please believe even if I throw a tad bit of shade, the focus will ABSOLUTELY be on me!
