In the past, Maria Sharapova has said that she doesn’t “respect” Serena Williams away from the game. Since 2004, Williams has beaten Sharapova 18 consecutive times and 19 of the last 21. In basic terms, Serena has owned Sharapova’s tennis existence.
On Tuesday, Serena was asked about Sharapova testing positive for a ban substance. Serena could’ve been petty but chose to take the high road with her statement.
Serena could’ve asked a lot of questions, but the question I have, would Serena have received the benefit of the doubt from the media and competitors, like Sharapova has?
Here’s the bottom line. If Maria was taking the meds to enhance her game, it never worked when she played Serena.
