Serena Williams doesn’t want to discuss the crip walk again [video]

The Olympics are done and over and Serena Williams has moved on to the U.S. Open. In A press conference for the up coming match, Serena was asked about her “celebration dance” better known ass the “crip walk” in hip-hop society, Serena is clearly over the topic – I agree – but when a reporter asked her about it during an interview, Serena’s reaction is… interesting. Start the interview around the 4:40 mark to catch it.

“First of all, it was just a dance,” she said. “I didn’t know that’s what it was called. Second, why are you asking me that? Like that’s so … I mean, if anything you should be trying to ask me questions to lift me up, not bring up such things. I’m done with that question.”

Oh Serena… that’s not the best way to deal with that question. I don’t have an issue with her not wanting to discuss it but why should the reporter be trying to lift her up? If I had to put money on it, I’d say that remark was stated in that manner because the woman is probably of African-American descent – I’m ASSUMING, I don’t know that as a fact – but I do feel if Serena wouldn’t be so defensive, the “media” wouldn’t keep pursuing her about it.

Just my two cents ::plays with hair like Serena does in the video::

**Update**
I was correct in my assumption. The reporter was Adena Andrews – someone who I’ve interacted with via Twitter and is in fact African-American. And with that, I’ll say again, Serena could’ve handled that much better. Don’t assume whose for or against you in a situation like this. Just state you’re done and keep it moving.
