At least one piece of good news has emerged in my sport’s world today. LA Dodgers star Matt Kemp is close to re-signing with the club for eight years and a total of $160 million.
Although the team has filed for bankruptcy as part of owner Frank McCourt’s divorce settlement, the move does not have to be cleared by courts.
Kemp, 27, led the National League with 39 home runs and 126 RBI last season while stealing 40 bases and batting .324. He’s also a favorite to win the NL’s Most Valuable Player award.
The contract is the largest in Dodgers franchise history and the seventh largest contract EVER in the MLB.
