Floyd Mayweather Jr. on Pacquiao KO, 50 Cent & what he means to boxing

On Sunday Floyd Mayweather appeared at The Watson Family charity basketball game. Before he took to the hardwood along with fellow boxers Shane Mosley and Adrien Broner, Floyd gave his thoughts on that Manny Pacquiao knock out, his ex BFF 50 Cent and what he feels he means to boxing.

On Pacquiao’s KO:

“he can come back from this. Take a vacation, take some time off and come back refreshed.”

When asked how Pacquiao’s knock out would affect his legacy, Floyd made it clear that fighting Pac has nothing to do with his success as a fighter.

My legacy is defined by what I do in my career.

As far as 50 Cent is concerned, Floyd says he wishes 50 the best and isn’t interested in discussing what’s happening in “another man’s pockets.” And that he doesn’t need 50 to get on top.

“The thing is this: I’m not here to talk about another man’s pockets, or how another man spends his money, or what another man invests in. Don’t nobody know what I invest in, and don’t no one know about what I have going on. I’m in a comfortable position. I’m happy, I love life.”

” I wish him nothing but the best. My main focus is Mayweather Promotions, The Money Team. Like I said before, if you’re on a certain level, the main thing I need to do is just focus on me and focus on what I’ve got to do.”

“I’ve been at the top, I’ve been at the top before I met 50 and I’m going to continue to be at the top.”

In addition to making sure his inner circle is strong, Floyd speaks to being at a more mature phase in his life where he doesn’t have to trash talk his opponent in order to be ready when he steps in the ring. He also wants you to know he’s still hungry.

I’m older, so I don’t have to sit around and badmouth my opponents, or talk bad about nobody. I know what I bring to the table. When it’s lights, camera, action, then I’ll give you entertainment.”

I’m the face of boxing. You live, you learn, but the main thing is being positive and making your inner circle stronger. That’s what it’s about.

Side note, if you’re curious as to who is still apart of “The Money Team” actor Jackie Long and Ray J were in the building with Floyd.

Shane Mosley weighed in on the Pacquiao knock out. He said it was unexpected and amazing.

Keep your eyes on Adrien Broner. That guy is a ball of energy. He couldn’t wait to get on the court. I can’t wait to check out his next fight. Be on the look out for him.
