Dodgers Star Matt Kemp Wins 2011 Hank Aaron Award

Matt Kemp has won the Hank Aaron Award for Top Offensive Player In National League. Although the Dodgers 2011 season was largely a lost year, Matt Kemp has been truly amazing this season. The award is given to the top offensive performer in each league, and is voted on by a panel of Hall of Fame members plus the fans who vote online on MLB.com.

This year’s Hall of Fame panel included Aaron, Joe Morgan, Roberto Alomar, Tony Gwynn, Paul Molitor, Willie McCovey, Billy Williams and Robin Yount.

A few of Matt’s accomplishments this season;  39 home runs, 40 bases stolen, and came extremely close to becoming the fifth member of the 40/40 club. Kemp was in the top two in the league for both home runs and stolen bases. He was the first player to do that since Hank Aaron did it himself in 1963.

The National League MVP award will be announced November 22nd. That’s the prize we’re hoping Matt pulls down!
