Allyson Felix and Jeneba Tarmoh tie for 3rd place in 100m Olympic trial

Sprinters Allyson Felix and Jeneba Tarmoh finished in a dead heat for third place in the 100 meters during the Olympic trials on Saturday in Eugene, Oregon.  USA Track & Field met through the night in an effort to determine who the final member of the Olympic team will be.

USA Track & Field doesn’t have a rule to determine the final spot of an Olympic team in case of a tie.

The two share the same trainer, Bobby Kersee, and are workout partners. who stressed letting the two ladies focus on the 200 m race which they’re both competing in, and let them decide after how to settle the tie. A one-on-one race off seems the most logical choice. The 200 finals are Saturday and the trials conclude the following day.

Carmelita Jeter won the race in 10.92 seconds, and second-place went to Tianna Madison. Tarmoh was unofficially declared the third-place finisher, just .0001 seconds ahead of Felix, but a photo review determined that the two were tied.
