You knew somewhere there had to be a business connection to Floyd Mayweather Jr. and rapper 50 Cent’s “besties” status. Fiddy’s new venture; Boxing promotion under the name TMT Promotions. That’s The Money Team, naturally.
TMT promotions has been licensed to promote fights in New York and is in the process of applying for a license in Nevada as well. According to SI.com, Jackson is expected to sign former featherweight title holder Yuri Gamboa and super middleweight contender Andre Dirrell.
Mayweather hinted in April that Jackson would be getting involved in the fight game during a conference call to promote his fight against Miguel Cotto.
“I think he’s going to be involved on the promotion side,” Mayweather said at the time. “We may even put him out there, let him fight on pay-per-view one time. So we don’t really know what the future holds, but he is getting involved with boxing.”
You can’t deny 50’s business acumen. I have no doubt this will be a lucrative venture for him and an entertaining one for the public at large.
